LuLu's Bait Shack: Alfresco dining and New Orleans style fare
Grab a seat along the perimeter of this second level restaurant in Beach Place Plaza and enjoy the cool ocean breeze and views of the Atlantic. The elevated picnic style seating gives this restaurant a casual and lively vibe.
The menu offers dozens of seafood, chicken and beef specialties, with New Orleans style flair traced throughout the menu.
With the beach literally right across the street, LuLu’s Bait Shack is a perfect spot for lunch and for a break from the sun. Recharge with the Cajun Club Po’Boy, a sandwich with blackened grilled chicken and andoulle sausage. The atmosphere is casual, so come on over in your beach cover-up and flip flops.
During the week, the crowd becomes a bit rowdier once happy hour kicks off at 4 pm. Until 7 pm, take advantage of the $2 house wines, $2 domestic drafts, $2.50 single liquor cocktails and $3 house margaritas.
Lulu’s Bait Shack gears up for the weekend with dollar Bud and Bud Light 10 oz draft specials on Thursdays, 7 pm - midnight. On Fridays, ladies can enjoy 2 for 1 vodka martinis from 8 pm until close.
For a real adventure, share an 84 oz fish bowl among friends, which come filled with a cocktail of your choosing. The Gator Bite is a mix of vodka, blue Curacao, and lemonade. Or, for an eruption of flavor, try the Island Volcano with Bacardi O, Bacardi 151 and orange, cranberry and pineapple juices.
As your appetite kicks in, a good place to start is with the smoked fish dip or catfish fingers. The latter are hand battered and dusted in southern cornmeal breading before being fried.
Deciding on a meal can be tough due to the extensive menu. Stay undecided, and try the Cajun Tour ($10.95), which allows you to sample three different Cajun specialties: crawfish etoufee, jambalaya and the shrimp gumbo.
The fresh Mahi-Mahi tacos are superb. The fish is blackened and then topped with lettuce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and chipotle ranch.
